Business/Social Hints:
 Business is conducted in Portuguese, many executives speak English or French. Smoking is generally accepted but restricted in many public buildings and on public transport. Request permission before smoking in offices and restaurants. On social occasions, eg invitation to restaurants, punctuality is appreciated. Dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. There is no official minimum drinking age

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Recommended immunisations: Hepatitis A is recommended in some circumstances e.g. travellers making 3 or more visits per year or for high-risk occupational groups. Contact your local GP for specific details. Portugal is a participant of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.

PASSPORT AND VISA INFORMATION

Passport General: Required, but NOT by the following:
1) Holders of National Identity Cards issued to nationals of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland
2) Holders of passports expired less than 5 years issued to nationals of Austria, Belgium, Germany (less than 1 year), Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain & Switzerland
3) Holders of the following identity cards:
a) Belgian Provisional Identity Card
b) Provisional Identity Card issued by the "Land of Berlin"
4) Holders of valid alien`s Identity Card, stating the nationality of the bearer, issued by the authorities of the country of residence, to nationals of: Belgium (by the Governments of France, Luxembourg & Switzerland); Netherlands (by the Governments of Belgium & Luxembourg); Luxembourg (by the Governments of Belgium, France, Liechtenstein & Switzerland)
5) Holders of official identity & Registration of Imatriculation Card, for Belgians, issued by a Belgian diplomatic or consular agent abroad
6) Holders of "Titulo Individual de Viagem Unica" (provisional travel document issued to a Portuguese national by a Portuguese Consulate/Embassy, valid only for a return trip to Portugal)
Passport Validity: Passports must be valid for 3 months or sufficient to cover the duration of visit; except holders of Brazilian passports which must be valid for 6 months
