GENERAL INFORMATION

Language: Spanish (Castilian), Catalan, Galician, Basque
Electricity: 220V AC 50Hz. European Plug Adapter (round pin) is needed.

Driving: Driving is on the right. EU Driving Licences are accepted, if not an International Driving Licence is required. Minimum driving age is 18, however minimum age for car hire is 21.
Currency: Euro (EUR 1 = 100 Cents)
Business/Social Hints: Business is conducted in Spanish, many executives speak French or English. On social occasions, eg invitation to restaurants, be reasonably punctual and dress as for business meetings unless otherwise indicated. The most common business hours are Monday through Saturday, from 9.30 h to 13.30 h, and from 16.30 to 20.00 h.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Rabies not normally present (excluding North African Coast) but always assess bites. No compulsory vaccinations. Check travellers have up to date tetanus & polio immunisations. Participant of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC scheme) which allows visitors on short-term stays to other member countries to use the public health care sector for free or reduced-cost medical treatment and emergency care.

PASSPORT AND VISA INFORMATION

Passport General: Required, but NOT by the following:
1) Holders of valid Identity Cards issued to citizens of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway & Portugal
Passport Validity: Please contact nearest embassy/consulate
Visa General: The following DO NOT require a visa:
1) Nationals of Spain
2) For an unrestricted length of stay by:
a) Holders of British passports with the inscription `British Citizen` or `European Union`
b) Holders of passports issued by Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden & Switzerland
3) For stays up to 90 days by:
a) Holders of passports issued by Andorra, Anguilla, Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passport holders only), Israel, Japan, Korea (South), Liechtenstein, Macao (S.A.R. passport holders only), Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Montserrat, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, St. Helena, Turks & Caicos Islands, United States, Uruguay, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vatican City & Venezuela
b) Holders of permanent residency in any of the Schengen member states, are entitled to re-enter the Schengen area without a visa on production of proof of residence & passport
