Yes, four countries were simply not enough for the touring rugby players and an afternoon’s sightseeing incorporating the majestic Bernebau Stadium – home to Real Madrid FC – broke up the trans-Atlantic journey. The ten-match tour featured games against the cream of Chile, Argentina and Uruguay’s schools with the visitors holding their own against the competitive opposition. Ensuring the players’ downtime features educational elements is a pre-requisite for any Teamlink long haul tour. Sightseeing excursions to each of the cities’ historical landmarks – Buenos Aires, Santiago, Montevideo – accompanied the fun elements such as learning the trade of a Gaucho (cowboy) in Argentina, skiing in the Chilean Andes and jet boating on the Brazilian side of the mighty Iguazu Falls.
