Teamlink have had an exciting month over in Barbados with both Westfield School and Ysgol Bro Gwaun touring to the most easterly island of the Caribbean archipelago during July. Staying in the St James region of the sunshine isle, the touring groups enjoyed lazy days by the pool and beach in between their competitive sporting fixtures.

Westfield School Netball Team spent 8 days in the Caribbean heaven, competing against 3 local sides during their stay and using nearby training facilities to prepare for their match days. The team especially enjoyed sampling the local restaurants and relaxing on a choice of 2 beautiful neighbouring beaches.

For all members of the Ysgol Bro Gwan rugby tour, the Tiami Catamaran Cruise was the highlight of their 10 day Caribbean trip. Departing from Bridgetown on a large catamaran, the day was spent swimming with turtles and reef fish, followed by lunch and a boat diving competition.

Away from the paradise of these tropical waters, the Bro Gwaun squad had some serious rugby to play! The boys suffered in the humid conditions and lost their first match 12:11 to what could only be described as a very large Bajan team. Four days in and Ysgol Bro Gwaun (B) were back on form beating Bajan Gold quite convincingly. Next up Gwaun (A) took on Bajan Blacks but narrowly lost a hard fought encounter. In an exciting end to the day it was WALES V ENGLAND in a homeland derby where Gwaun held the upper hand throughout but one powerful breakaway by a speedy English winger eventually cost Ysgol Bro Gwaun the game.

In a brilliant end to the school year, both Tour Leaders reported back to Teamlink with the following comments:
