Derby Triathlon Club - Ironman Mallorca 70.3 - May 2013

    The crew aim to tackle Ironman Mallorca 70.3...

    Following our inaugural triathlon club trip to Challenge Barcelona, taking 30 athletes and supporters, we are delighted to present the next Club Trip to Ironman Mallorca 70.3 in May 2013 with just under 50 people.

    On May 11, 2013, Ironman 70.3 Mallorca will take place in Alcudia, known as a training paradise to many cyclists and triathletes, doubling as a qualifying race for the Ironman World Championship 70.3.

    Those lucky enough to have competed in this event in past years have raved about the clear waters, challenging bike (one LARGE hill!) and well-supported run along the beach promenade.  Adhering to Ironman’s high standards all athletes are guaranteed a memorable experience in what we expect to be pristine racing conditions.

    Teamlink’s role is providing a travel package that takes the hassle out of the intense logistics and preparations surrounding such events.  We’ve selected the 4*Hotel HSM President in Alcudia located in close proximity to the start/finish areas where athletes will be accommodated on an ALL-INCLUSIVE basis.  Having experienced great team bonding at Challenge Barcelona through dining and socialising together we have opted to continue this meal plan with the addition of a free bar each day.  Great news for supporters accompanying athletes.  Those competing may want to hold back on the temptation to over-hydrate until post-race!

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

    GETTING TO/FROM LUTON and PARKING
    No UK airport transfers are included due to 4 x separate travel groups.  I have listed those travelling on each flight on the web page for you to make arrangements amongst yourselves.  Plenty of parking options at Luton Airport.  Simply Google Luton Airport parking to view the on and off site parking options.  Airport transfers in Mallorca are included.

    TRAVEL INSURANCE
    Excluded and up to each individual to cover themselves adequately.

    BOARDING PASSES / TICKETS
    No tickets are needed.  I will be providing you with your boarding passes via email that must be printed for both flights.

    BAGGAGE:  what can I take and what do I have to pay for?

    We will be flying with easyJet.  Everyone has a hand luggage allowance free of charge.  http://www.easyjet.com/planning/baggage

    You can take one piece of hand baggage into the cabin with you -no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm incl wheels- which must fit comfortably into the baggage gauge. Hand bags, briefcases, laptops and laptop bags are all counted as one piece so if you have a hand bag and a laptop bag for example, you might want to consider putting one inside the other.

    If you are the cyclist in a relay team you have a bike bag booked on to the plane (provision of bag is not included).  Click here to read about restrictions - http://www.easyjet.com/en/bicycles.  Please note that you do not have an item of 20kg baggage for the ‘hold’.  If you want an extra item booked on (the cost is £32 per 20kg bag) I require this in writing via email.  Please note that the deadline for adding extra baggage is 17th April.

    If you are the non-cyclist in a relay team you have 20kg baggage allowance.  We devised this system to allow a relay team to ‘pool’ baggage.

    If you are completing the event as an individual you are permitted to take your bike as hold luggage plus a free item of hand luggage.  No hold luggage is included.

    If you are a supporter, an item of 20kg hold luggage plus hand luggage is included.  Therefore, those travelling as a ‘couple’ can pool luggage.
