Who? What? Where?

  • FrogFest is strictly an over 18's festival for male, female and mixed teams.
  • All games are 7 a side and 7 minutes each way. 
  • FrogFest is a SOCIAL sports festival and teams are expected to compete in the ‘spirit’ of the event. Enjoy it!
  • The hockey pitches are located 20km / 45 minutes away from the Chateau by coach.
  • Games will be played upon two water-based astroturf pitches and one grass pitch. 
  • Food and drinks will be available to buy throughout the event however a packed lunch is provided.

Tournament Check List

  • Sun cream and sunglasses (fingers crossed!)
  • Water (although water will be available throughout free of charge)
  • Camping chairs
  • Money for extra food available at the tournament (packed lunch is provided)
  • Change of hockey clothing - male and female changing facilities are available on site

Tournament Format

Day 1 - Saturday 6th April 2012

  • Depart the Chateau after breakfast at 9.30.
  • 4 pools are formed (5 teams in each pool)
  • Each team will play 4 fixtures in their pool
  • The top 16 teams will go through to the Cup knockout
  • The bottom 4 teams will go through to the Plate knockout
  • Arrive back at the Chateau at 17:30

Day 2 - Sunday 7th April 2012

  • Depart the Chateau after breakfast at 9.30.
  • Cup competition: Top 2 places of each group plus best 3rd place team
  • Plate competition: Remaining teams
  • Three points for a win, two points for a draw, one point for a loss and no points for a no show. No extra time will be played for pool matches.
  • Prize giving will take place after the final match
  • Arrive back at the Chateau at 17:30

Tournament Regulations: 

1. If, at the end of pool games, two teams have the same number of points, progression in the tournament will be decided by:
(a) The winner of the match between the two teams,
(b) If the match in (a) is drawn, then the team with the highest margin of points scored for and against shall be deemed the leading team. If the tie remains unresolved then,
(c) The team with the highest margin of tries/goals/baskets scored for and against shall be deemed the leading team. If the tie remains unresolved then,
(d) The team that has scored the most number of points shall be deemed the leading team. If the tie remains unresolved then,
(e) The team that has scored the most number of goals shall be deemed the leading team.
If more than two teams are tied then rules (b), (c), (d) and (e) from above apply.
2. If teams are still tied the winner shall be decided by the Tournament Committee.
3. If a match is abandoned for any reason:
(a) At halftime or any time in the second half, the result will stand.
(b) During the first half, the result will be declared a draw.
4. KNOCKOUT STAGES: in the event of a game being drawn at the end of normal time, extra time will be played until a winner is determined. The team which scores first in extra time will be declared the winner and play will cease. Extra time will be in periods of five minutes. After each period the teams will change sides without interval.
5. The rules of the tournament, including their interpretation are matters for the Tournament Committee. In the event of any contingency arising not covered by the foregoing rules, a ruling shall be given by the Tournament Committee and its ruling shall be final, without appeal.

Mixed Hockey Rules:

  • Matches will be played in accordance with the ‘Rules of Hockey 2000' published by The International Hockey Federation (including disciplinary procedures)
  • Teams should comprise of 6 male/female outfield players and a male or female goalkeeper.
  • Shin pads must be worn throughout the duration of warm up and games.
  • No baseball caps or jewellery should be worn.
  • Long hair must be tied back.
  • Trainers only must be worn (no spikes please)
  • FrogFest Tournament organisers will be providing a referee.
  • The replacement or substitution of a player may only be made with the permission of the referee and only when the ball is dead.
  • All games must be played 7 a side. If there are not enough players, you may borrow from other participating teams subject to approval from the opposing team’s captain.
  • First Aid assistance will be available at each venue by qualified staff.
