The Gothia Cup is one of the most well known youth soccer tournaments in the world and also one of the most popular. Throughout the years 800,000 youths from over 127 different countries have participated in the Gothia Cup, making it the most international tournament of its kind with more than 1,500 teams taking part each year.

Tournament Format

The tournament caters for different ages groups in various formats. All competitions are 11 a side except where stated below:

Boys U18s – born 1.1.92 and later
Boys U16s – born 1.1.94 and later
Boys U15s – born 1.1.95 and later
Boys U14s – born 1.1.96 and later
Boys U13s – born 1.1.97 and later
Boys U12s – born 1.1.98 and later (7-a-side)
Boys U11s – born 1.1.99 and later (7-a-side)

Girls U19s – born 1.1.91 and later
Girls U17s – born 1.1.93 and later
Girls U15s – born 1.1.95 and later
Girls U14s – born 1.1.96 and later
Girls U13s – born 1.1.97 and later
Girls U12s – born 1.1.98 and later (7-a-side)

Finals of Play off A will be played at Gamla Ullevi Stadium on the Friday and Saturday. Gamla Ullevi is Sweden’s best football scene - newly built in 2009 this arena has capacity for 18,000 spectators. It is also the home arena of Swedish Premier League teams GIAS, Örgryte and IFK Göteborg.

Sample Itinerary

Sample 8-Day Itinerary:

Day 1 - Make your way to your chosen departure airport where you will begin your journey to Sweden (hand luggage only). Upon arrival you will be transferred to your chosen tour accommodation. Teams arrive to Gothenburg during the day. Check-in at your tournament accommodation. Meal program starts with dinner between 17.00-20.30. Gothia Heden Center opens, an area packed with activities such as sumo wrestling, cage football and the Congo football experience. The Gothia Heden Center is also available for food and drink whilst enjoying the extensive tournament coverage. The Center is open throughout the tournament for teams to use when not playing matches.

Day 2 - You will be transferred from your accommodation to the Gothia Cup Football Tournament venue via your executive coach transport. The tournament will begin at 08:00 with the start of the first round matches.

Day 3 - You will be transferred from your accommodation to the Gothia Cup Football Tournament venue via your executive coach transport. The tournament will commence at 08:80 with the second round tournament matches. This will be followed by the Gothia Leaders' Party taking place 19:00 - 24:00 at the Scandinavium Arena. Gothenburg’s main Hockey venue, it is transformed into a huge entertainment facility and play host to a show containing music, dance, and comedy while food and drink is serve through the evening,

Day 4 - Last games of the First round, followed by the A-B Play-offs.

Day 5 - Tournament A-B Play-offs continue.

Day 6 - Gothia Finals start from 12.00 – (A-Finals only).

Day 7 - A-Play Off games start at 08.30 at Gamla Ullevi. All B-Play Off are played at Heden with a start time of 08.00. Last meal (Lunch) is served at schools between 11.00-15.00. Check Out of your hotels before attending Club Gothia - one of Sweden's biggest clubs opens its doors, giving everyone a chance to have some end of tournament fun. Club Gothia is open every night of the tournament for the hours of 19.00 - Midnight and is a great way of the teams being able to interact.

Day 8 - Final day of tour. It's time to pack up and head back to the Airport to await your return flight home.
