Still going strong in its 18th year this is one of the most unique festivals in the hockey touring calendar. Expect to be fully immersed in the Dutch culture and subject to some of the best hockey, and fun Holland has to offer!

This tournament was originally launched by the members of the Dutch touring team ´Kap Nah´. In the early days around 15 teams participated but nowadays 24 teams can participate in the tournament (12 mens teams and 12 womens teams). Because of the great success of all previous editions, the tournament is mostly fully booked months before the start of the festival so book early to guarantee your place! Now in its 18th year Happy Hockeydays is one of the most fun and most social festivals in the entire hockey touring calendar. This year will see everyone dressed up in a traditional Dutch theme as the organisers try and immerse all participants in the Dutch culture. Expect ‘Bitterballen & Kaasstengels’, traditional Dutch Dancing, Cows being milked at breakfast (no we’re not kidding!). The festival is also sponsored by the Beer Jupiler, so expect this to be flowing to add cheer to the festival.

Tournament Format

The level of the participating hockey teams varies from some teams of a very high standard to recreational teams to whom the social side of the tournament is more important....Sunday's games end with a splattering Thé-dansant which is a notorious Dutch hockey party. Hudito Happy Hockeydays Tournament is a truly international tournament with teams venturing all the way from the USA, rest assured there will be some amusing intercontinental banter here.

Tournament matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday with the finals and presentations on the Monday. Games are divided over one water pitch, two astro pitches and one small astro pitch. Each hockey match is 25 minutes. On the three ‘normal’ fields we play eleven a side and on the smaller field the six a side competition will be played (as per indoor hockey rules). After the first days hockey your standard will be judged – depending on how you choose to play you could be put in the social pool all the way up to the top pool which last year contained half the German international team in disguise as a social side!

Sample 4-Day Itinerary:

Day 1 - Your executive coach will pick you up from your sporting club house and begin the journey to Holland. You will embark on the channel crossing from Dover / Folkestone to Calais (subject to using Eurotunnel or ferry crossing). You will then be transferred to your chosen tour accommodation/ camping accommodation. u

Sample 4-Day Itinerary:

Day 2 - The day will begin with breakfast being served and the first matches will begin in the morning. The first day of play will be to judge the standard of hockey and to choose the categories each team will play in on the Sunday. The ranges from the Social pool to the top pool. Entertainment will be provided after the tournament.

Day 3 - The day will begin with breakfast being served and then the second day of play will commence. Entertainment will be provided after the tournament.

Day 4 - The final day of the tournament. All finals will be played on the Sunday and this will be followed by the Hudito Happy Hockeydays prize giving and award ceremony.

Day 5 - Your executive coach transfer from your chosen tour accommodation to Calais, where you will embark on your return channel crossing back to the UK and your rugby club house.
