Rugby matches against international opponents, exciting leisure time activities and great entertainment – all in one of Europe’s most exciting cities with its warm weather climate and white sandy beaches.
Tournament Format
- Under 13 - All players born between the 1 January 1998 and 31 December 1999.
10 a side. Half sized pitch. - Under 15 - All players born between the 1 January 1996 and 31 December 1997.
12 a side. Half sized pitch. - Under 17 - All players born between the 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1995.
15 a side. Full sized pitch. - Under 19 - All players born between the 1 January 1992 and 31 December 1993.
15 a side. Full sized pitch.
6 grass pitches will be used including one of the country´s most emblematic stadiums, where the Portugal National Football Cup is held. During the first day of the competition, every team will play 4 to 5 matches in a round robin format, with the play-off groups and finals taking place on the Sunday.
Each match won = 3 point and each match tied = 1 point. If two or more teams obtain the same number of points, the order will be decided as follows:
1. Nº of tries scored
2. Tries difference
3. Result of the match of the teams with a tie
4. Less number of yellow and red cards
In case of tie in play offs and finals, the match will be decided with sudden dead.
The festival will conclude on the Sunday evening with a presentation awards ceremony, where all age group winners and runners up receive an award.
Sample Itinerary

Sample 5-Day Itinerary:
Day 1 - Make your way to your chosen departure airport where you will begin your journey to Portugal (hand luggage only). Upon arrival you will be transferred to your chosen tour accommodation ready to check in. The first day of the tournament involves team registration, as well as a captain and coaches meeting. This meeting will provide you with all the necessary informationa and documentation. After this meeting you and your team are free to enjoy the evening at your accommodation, or maybe take a stroll into the nearby towns to experience some of the local culture.
Day 2 - You will be transferred to the Portugal Youth Rugby Festival venue. The grand opening ceremony will take place on this day, welcoming teams from all over the globe. After the ceremony the tournament kicks off with the first round of qualification games. The tournament is played in a group format. Several groups compete with the top two teams progressing to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Day 3 - The second day of play is the final day of the tournament with the competition finals taking place. This will see the Portugal Youth Rugby Festival champions being crowned! As well as the main finals, there will also be the play-off finals for 3rd place.
Day 5 - Final day of tour. It's time to pack up and head back to the Airport to await your return flight home.
