This second annual International Rugby Veterans Festival is known to past teams as the fantastic 'Salami, Sausage and Oval Ball' social event. This popular Vets rugby tournament is hosted in Northern Italy in the beautiful historic city of Mantova.

After the success of last year's International Rugby Veterans Festival the event will take place again this season on 29th September 2012. The tournament is hosted at Senatori Virgilania RFC in the spectacular town of Mantova - a 42nd Italian Unesco World Heritage Site since 2008. Mantova is known for its art and history and is home to some of the most famous artists in the world and surrounded by beautiful buildings, cafes and restaurants.

Senatori Virgilania RFC has 3 pitches and an enjoyable, roomy club house for your team to enjoy pre match banter prior to the game. This XV a side social tournament will host 8 teams, divided into 2 pools of 4 teams. All matches will last 20 minutes (60 minutes play on aggregate). Standard veteran rugby rules apply, no pushing in the scrum and no kicks outside your team's 22m area.

No rugby tour to the International Rugby Veterans Festival is complete without making a trip to the old town and experiencing ‘Salami e Salumi’ - the famous national fair of Italian Salami and meat which is taking place over the weekend 28th September – 1st October 2012. This will allow you to view the beauty of Mantova as well as experience the unique and rare tastes of the Italian food.

Sample Itinerary

Sample 4-Day Itinerary:

Day 1 - You will make your own way to your chosen departure airport where you will begin your journey to Mantova, Italy (hand luggage only). Upon arrival in Verona you will be transferred to your chosen tour accommodation.

Day 2 - You will be transfered to the Rugby Veterans Festival venue where the tournament will begin at 08:30 and will continue late into the evening until 20:00. The bar and food are available all the end of the days play.

Day 3 - You will be transfered to the Rugby Veterans Festival again via coach and the first games will begin at 09:00, play will end around 17:00. The bar will be open all day with class music entertainment throughout. The tournament will end with the official awards ceremony followed by the final night party.

Day 4 - Final day of tour. Time to check out of your tour accommodation, you will be transfered via coach to Verona airport where you will begin your journey back to the UK.
