Spend Easter weekend with our friends in Holland and you’ll soon realise that the Dutch are passionate sportsmen as well as excellent hosts who certainly know how to party! This amazing event brings together the cream of European social hockey for an Easter to remember. The tournament offers teams 2 days of hockey and 3 nights of entertainment at the onsite club house where you will accompanied by 400 other hockey players from far and wide. The Strawberries Easter Hockey Tournament is an extremely popular event and the tournament organisers restrict the number of teams participating each year so that the festival is fully enjoyed by all.

This Easter hockey extravaganza is held at KHC Strawberries in Driehuis (near Amsterdam) and is a truly international event. 2012 will be the event’s 31st year with senior men’s, women’s and mixed teams being accommodated. In 2010 Teamlink Sports Tours took 150 players to the event to demonstrate their festival skills… and play hockey! 

Tournament Format

Strawberries is a well established tournament that caters for Men’s and Women’s 11-a-side teams. It is also possible to enter Mixed teams in the Men’s tournament. There are two days of hockey on offer: Saturday and Sunday hosts the group stages followed by playoffs from approximately 10:00 until 17:00. Hockey is social, friendly and played in the true touring spirit.....expect up to 30 teams to be involved and fancy dress on the pitch! The 3 hockey pitches at the venue include two sand based Astroturfs and one grass pitch.

Entrants can expect to play approximately five to six group games through the weekend with additional fixtures on Sunday for those who make the playoffs. To help assist with officiating teams are required to volunteer members to umpire when necessary by a pre-determined rota. Fixtures and results are displayed throughout the day at the centralised hockey administration headquarters which can be found upstairs in the club house, so teams can keep up to date on their personal and opponents’ progress in between games.

Sample 4-Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Assemble at your nominated pick up point and board your executive coach for the journey to Driehuis, Holland. The ferry crossing between Dover – Calais will take approximately 80 minutes, offering an opportunity to relax on board whilst transferring to the Continent. Set up tents on the campsite or check into chosen accommodation. The Clubhouse opens from 16.00 and the official tournament Opening Party will be held onsite from 21:00.

Day 2: After enjoying your FREE breakfast, there will be a 09:30 captains meeting prior to the tournament start. The tournament begins at 10:00 and finishes at 17:00. The FREE lunch buffet starts at 13:00 and the FREE dinner at 17:00. The early evening will be free time at your leisure with the themed fancy dress night kicking off from 18:00 onwards.

Day 3: After tucking into your complimentary breakfast, day 2 of the tournament starts. Tournament matches begin at 10:00 and finishes at 17:30. The FREE lunch buffet starts at 13:00. The playoff finals will be between 16:30 – 17:30 followed by the prize giving ceremony. The early evening will be free time at your leisure with the closing party from 18:00 onwards.

Day 4: All good things must come to an end...pull down your tent, pack up your camp and ensure your pitch is cleared before collecting your damage deposit from tournament staff. Board your coach, depart Driehuis and then onward to your nominated drop off point back in the UK. Roll on Strawberries 2013!
