New Zealand Sports Tours

A geological wonder, the Land of the Long White Cloud is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes - from glacial mountains to soft, sandy beaches, and all the lush forests and clear lakes in between - and the hospitality of its inhabitants. Despite being intense competitors, these friendly islanders will be there with a handshake and refreshments even after the toughest of fixtures.

Rugby Union isn’t just New Zealand's national sport; it’s a national obsession. Since the first oval ball was kicked in the colony in 1870, through to the World Cup win in 1987 and the subsequent failures to recapture the trophy, rugby has been ingrained in the country’s cultural identity. Today, the All Blacks are one of the most immediately recognisable sporting teams on the planet; an international brand whose results affect the mood of the nation. In fact, it could be said that the reason New Zealanders are so hospitable is that the national team don’t lose very often. Other Kiwi teams on the world stage include the All Whites (men's football), Black Ferns (women’s rugby), the Silver Ferns (netball), the Black Caps (cricket), the Tall Blacks (basketball) and the Black Sticks (hockey). While rugby touring teams are likely to get the most out of visit to New Zealand in terms of competition (there are over 140,000 registered players and 520 clubs) , that isn’t to say that other sports are neglected. Soccer is one of the most popular participation sports in the country, with the All Whites' recent success at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa highlighting their prospects for the future.  OK, they didn't qualify from the group stages but they remained undefeated throughout their three matches, including a superb draw with Italy that plotted the Azzuri's downfall from the majestic event.  Netball enjoys a strong following among females of all ages, and cricket is also played widely.
