Oxfordshire CCC: Australia Tour
Oxfordshire Cricket Board U19s ended their 2010 in style with a 16 (or technically 18 day!) Australia cricket tour taking in Sydney, Bowral, Canberra and Perth. Even the delay to the group’s return flight caused by the UK’s December snow wasn’t enough to dampen what was a spectacular cricket tour for the team.
The group enjoyed a jam packed touring schedule taking in Bondi Beach, Bradman Oval and full day Blue Mountains tour, along with 6 demanding cricket days against local opposition...
Words from Tour Leader Kieren on his touring experience with Teamlink Sports Tour:
“I'd just like to drop you a line to thank Teamlink so much for all your efforts over the last 12 months. It was a wonderful experience for the players, and all of them took a great deal out of the tour. It actually ran extremely smoothly, and all my worries were (not surprisingly) unfounded. In terms of Oxfordshire Youth Cricket, I have absolutely no doubt that we will strive to embark upon another tour within the next three years, and will certainly use Teamlink for all our organising again.
The fixtures were highly competitive, but I'm pleased to say that we won three of the seven, which represented a good effort for such a young side. The players, many of whom did not know each other before the tour, have become close friends, and will certainly carry the memories of their tour forward in their future cricket careers. Even the delays in Hong Kong were made as comfortable as possible, with Cathay Pacific putting the boys up in five-star accommodation while awaiting the snow clearance at Heathrow!”
