AGC Women's FC return from Sporting Lisbon EXP...
AGC Women's football team have returned from their sports tour to Portugal, where they enjoyed a day in the life of a professional footballer at Primeira Liga's Sporting Lisbon. The team partook in specialised goalkeeping and outfield drills with Sporting Lisbon's world class coaches, who developed the skills of players such as Ronaldo and Nani. Presumably this consists of learning how to do 50 'step-overs' in 30 seconds and an extensive course in the use of Brylcreem to create the 'slick back' effect.
The team have kindly sent us through their tour factfile detailing their personal opinions on key touring questions:
Maj Grace Irvine
Favorite part of the tour/best memory:
"Best memory was getting to train with the Sporting Lisbon coaches - seeing where Ronaldo and other famous footballers started their career."
Sports tour top tip:
"Make sure you take a goal keeper, we couldn't get our keepers released so it fell to one of the outfielders to take up the position."
Military Funding Tips:
"Ensure that funding is sorted at an early stage. The Army Sports Lottery and our Corps (AGC) were our biggest contributor to our sports tour to Portugal."
Where to next:
"The girls want to go further a field next time so; Canada, Australia, China, Russia or New Zealand. This all depends on inflation though, flights anywhere are pretty pricey these days!"
