Gunners FC to Shoot Off to South Africa...
The Army’s Royal Artillery FC head out in October 2012 on a ten day football tour to South Africa’s finest city: Cape Town.
Signing off an itinerary that includes matches against local club opposition, Cape Town’s Field Artillery and a 11-a-side game in a Township, tour leader Jan Humphries will lead the group donning Umbro tracksuits and polo shirts sponsored by Teamlink Sports Tours.
Boosted by the recent announcement of Sir Geoff Hurst recently agreeing to become Honorary President, the tour will comprise of players from as far abreast as Germany, N. Ireland and all corners of the UK. Almost all of the 15 Regiments within the Royal Artillery are being represented in South Africa. Asked on his composition, Capt. Humphries explained that “We have a mixture of older players with some up and coming young guys, plus two 18 year olds still in training who will definitely represent the Army this season. The Tour is to prepare for the forthcoming season and thank players for commitment over the past seasons”
